Before and after Cody Johnson
Back Road Story is rapidly becoming one of Missouri’s favorite new country bands. The band consists of lead singer, Chelsey Seboldt, two guitarists, Jacob Watson and Chris Beasley, bassist, Sawyer Rikard, and drummer, Dakota Watson. The band was formed in the fall of 2015, however, four members of the band have been playing music together for eight years. With over 50 shows played in 2016 around the Midwest, the Springfield, Missouri based band has hit the ground running and shows no signs of slowing down in the music industry.
Back Road Story was nominated for Group of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year in the 2016 KTTS Springfield, Missouri Country Music Awards, making them one of the top three music groups and female vocalists in the Southwest Missouri market. Most recently, they were nominated for Best Country Band, Best Overall Female Vocalist, Best Cover Band, and Best Drummer in the 2017 “The Local Magazine” Music Awards. As mentioned before, Back Road Story played over 50 shows in 2016. Some of their top performances include the Route 66 Festival, with a two-day crowd over 23,000, the O’Reilly Automotive company picnic, with a crowd of over 6,500, and a weekend in Nashville, Tennessee, including a show at the world famous Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge with standing-room only crowd. Furthermore, Back Road Story gained over 16,000 new fans and followers on their social media outlets in 2016.
Back Road Story is influenced by Carrie Underwood, Little Big Town, Lady Antebellum, Rascal Flatts, Brad Paisley, and many others. Each band member has a different taste for great music and brings an individual and unique element to the band. Their set includes classic country, modern country, and even some classic rock songs. Chelsey has been compared to Carrie Underwood countless times in terms of her voice, tone, and singing style. Back Road Story’s live performances excite audiences as they continue to break attendance records at the venues they perform at. Playing a mix of cover songs as well as Back Road Story original tunes, their shows continue to evolve and bring something new to every single live performance. Their increasing success and heightened popularity has gained attention from local press; being featured in the Springfield News-Leader multiple times as well as multiple appearances on the CBS affiliated television show, Ozarks Live, to perform their music. Chelsey has also sang the national anthem at various sporting events with thousands in attendance, heightening the bands popularity in even more.
